Foresters Arms to close for two weeks

The Foresters Arms is due to have some long overdue remedial works actioned by the brewery. These have now been confirmed and are due to commence on the Tuesday 19 April. The pub will be CLOSED for the duration of the works. The work being carried out includes relaying the floor in the main bar, replacing the roof on the cellar, rebuilding walls to the kitchen and laying new floors in the kitchen.

Monday 18 April - last day before closure

Join Dave and Adam for a last hurrah on Easter Monday when Nigel Bagge will be playing, and drink the pub dry to avoid anything going to waste when the doors shut on Tuesday.

The Brewery is hoping to hand the pub back to Dave and Adam on the 30 April but, and this is the rather tenuous part, if the weather is bad, the external works (roofing, walls etc) will not be able to be carried out and the work will simply be put back until the weather is okay – the pub remaining CLOSED during this time.

Once the Brewery has completed the building works, Dave and his staff will be able to start the clean up – particularly in the kitchen where so much of the work is taking place.

Dave and Adam are expecting to take a beer delivery w/c 2 May and to re-open on the evening of Friday the 6 May. They expect to be only serving drinks and nibbles on the Friday night before going back into full operation on the Saturday.

With the re-opening comes a new chef to support Chef Dave (as opposed to Landlord Dave), and the new chef’s expertise area is fish. There will be a new spring menu with a return of the Wine of the Week.

Dave and Adam, understandably, don’t want to close the doors for longer than they must, but they are very much in the lap of the Brewery Bigwigs. They will use signage outside the pub to let you know when the pub will re-open, alert people via the FCS newsletter and here on the Fairwarp website, or you may see them standing in the middle of the road directing you into the car park – perhaps not too subtle but they will want to see everyone back in the pub just as soon as they are allowed to unlock the front door!

In the meantime, the online booking system has been turned off and phoning in won’t make the tables available either for period they’re closed!

Let’s just hope the ghosts don’t get too upset at the pub being closed again….
